RUTH GRAENING DIES IN OKLAHOMA

Death Follows Brief Illness for Former Resident Of Winterset

Mrs. P. K. Graening, who was born and spent her early life in Winterset, died Monday, May 30, at the University hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. Her death followed an illness of several weeks with a blood disease.

Mrs. Graening was the former Ruth Smith, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed M. Smith of Winterset. She was graduated from the State University of Iowa at Iowa City in 1921, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, after which she taught in the Newton high school.

She was married to Dr. P. K. Graening in 1926, following his graduation from medical college. They moved to Oklahoma City, which remained her home during the remainder of her life, with the exception of two years when they made their home at Waverly, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Graening leaves a son, David Graening of Oklahoma City, and a daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Ging of Hollywood, Calif. One daughter, Jane, preceded her in death. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Moore of Winterset and Mr. W. L. Fry of Berkeley, Calif.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday, June 1, from the Westminister Presbyterian church in Oklahoma City, with burial in the Rose Hill cemetery in that city.
