CHARLES DEARDORF Dies At Odgen Utah

Charles C. Deardorff, formerly of Madison county, died March 22, 1947 at Ogden, Utah, according to an announcement made here this week.

His death occurred suddenly as he was enroute from Los Angeles, calif., where he had been spending the winter, to his home at Rifle, Colo. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Deardorff was born near Peru, Jan. 4, 1870, the son of Pleasant and Catherine Deardorff. He was married at Winterset, March 5, 1890, to Catherine V. Scott. They moved from Madison county to Rifle, Colo. in 1913. His wife died there in 1937. Since then he had made his home with his children.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lela Schoenenberger, now of El Paso, Tex., Mrs. Reva Peterson of Richmond, Calif., and Hazel Deardorff of Ogden, Utah; two sons, Cecil Deardorff of Rifle and Virgil Deardorff of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother Harley Deardorff of Rifle; and a half-brother, William Chadwick of Modesto. He also leaves five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Charley C. Deardorff

Charley Carr Deardorff, 77, retired farmer, of Rifle, Colo., died Saturday at six-forty p.m. as he was about to entrain for his home. He suffered a heart attack at the Union depot and died immediately. He had been visiting a daughter, Hazel Deardorff, K-45 Navy way, Washington Terrace.

Mr. Deardorff was born Jan. 4, 1870, in Winterset, Ia. 1913 he moved from Iowa to Rifle, Colo. For the past four years he made his home part time in Rifle and part time with a daughter at Washington Terrace.

On March 5, 1860, he married Victoria Scott in Iowa. She died in Rifle, Colo., in August 1937.

Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Cecil G. Deardorff, Rifle, Colo.; Virgil S. Deardorff, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Iver Schoenenberger, El Paso, Tex.; Mrs Albert Peterson, Richmond, Calif.; Hazel A. Deardorff, Washington Terrace; a brother, P. N. Deardorff, Rifle, Colo., and a step-brother, William Chadwick, Modesto, Calif.

The body will be taken to Colorado by the mortuary, 3408 Washington, for services and burial.

DEARDORFF—The remains of Charles Carr Deardorff, resident of Rifle Colo., will be sent to Rifle, Colo., Wednesday evening for services and interment. Mr. Deardorff was visiting with his daughter, Miss Hazel A. Deardorff at K-45 Navy way, Washington Terrace. Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Colonial chapel this evening from 6 to 9 o’clock.
