JOHN L. REID OF WINTERSET DIES

Funeral Services Held Here Monday; Burial at Earlham

John L. Reid, a resident of Madison county most of his life, died at Memorial hospital in Winterset Friday, March 20, at the age of 75 years.

Mr. Reid was born in Stark county, Illinois, on August 23, 1883 a son of David L. and Augusta Damon Reid. He moved with his parents to Lincoln, Nebr., and later to Iowa, when he was a boy.

He was married to Laura Bruett on Sept. 3, 1907. They engaged in farming here until his health failed. They lived in Winterset for several years, then moved to Douglas township to be near their daughter.

He was a member of the Early Chapel Christian church, later transferring to the Winterset Christian church.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Maude Bennett; a grandson; and two great grandchildren. A son, John Russell preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Robert A. Owens, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
