T. C. PHILLIPS DIED ON SUNDAY

Long-Time Resident of Near Peru Was 82 Years of Age

T. C. Phillips of Peru, a resident of Madison county most of his life, died Sunday, Feb. 22 at Clarinda. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Phillips was born at West Bend, Kansas, on Jan. 28, 1877, a son of Marion and Mary Augustine Phillips. He was married in Madison county on Dec. 6, 1899. His wife preceded him in death in 1957.

His life was spent in farming, up to his retirement in 1958. He was affiliated with the Methodist church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Wayne Crow of Winterset, Mrs. Lloyd Mitchell of Greenfield, and Mrs. Herb Carter of Pleasantville; four sons, John Phillips of St. Charles, Cecil Phillips of Peru, Leslie Phillips of Adel, and Wallace Phillips of Milton, Fla; 26 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a half sister, Bertha Edwards of Macksburg; and a half brother, Roy Platt.

Funeral services were held from the Richards Funeral home this Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Weed. Burial was made in Pleasant View cemetery.
