J. D. PEFFLEY, St. Charles Man Dies in Winterset

J. D. Peffley of St. Charles died here Sunday afternoon, April 6, 1947, at the office of Dr. J. F. Veltman, after being stricken with a heart attack at his home Saturday evening.

Mr. Peffley was 80 years old, and had been in failing health for several years.

He had lived at St. Charles for 63 years, coming to that community in 1885.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Elizabeth (Clanton), and two daughters, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

News of Interest from St. Charles

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for J. D. Peffley who passed away in Winterset on Sunday afternoon. The funeral was held at the home, conducted by Supt. E. E. Mott.

Mr. Peffley was 80 years of age and had been a resident of St. Charles since 1885. He was a carpenter by trade and a skilled workman in the profession as many homes in and around St. Charles can bear witness, but on account of poor health he was forced to give up his work some years ago.

He is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Mrs. Mae Faust and Miss Anna, both of St. Charles. Also four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nephews and nieces and many friends survive. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
