MRS. CLARA PENN DIES AT 84 YEARS

Death Occurred Monday for Life-Long Resident of County

Mrs. Clara E. Penn, a life-long resident of Madison county died at a nursing home here Monday, Nov. 30. She was 84 years of age.

Mrs. Penn was born in Madison county on Jan. 31, 1875. She was the former Clara Ellen Mills, daughter of Ephriam and Martha Cox Mills. She was one of a family of 13 children, all but one of whom have preceded her in death.

She was married to Franklin F. Penn on Jan. 8, 1896. His death occurred in 1934. For many years she made her home in Winterset.

Surviving are three sons, Ivan Penn of Winterset, Ray Penn of Van Meter and William Penn of Patterson; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Phipps of Osceola and Mrs. Delpha Costello of Boston, Mass.; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lulu Holmes of Sacramento, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Thursday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Robert Damon, pastor of the First Baptist church of Winterset. Burial will be made in the North McDonald cemetery.
