Nelle Edwards, daughter of Jacob A. and Nancy E. Edwards, was born November 5th, 1871 at Ainsworth, Iowa. She died September 15th, 1959 at the Clinic hospital in Dexter at the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 10 days.
She moved with her family to Adair in 1883 where she grew to womanhood. She received her education there graduating in the first high school class graduated at Adair. She was well known as a musician and traveled widely as a music teacher.
On December 24th, 1895, she was united in marriage to Noel A. Neff at Adair. There they began housekeeping. They soon moved to Earlham where Mr. Neff was in business for many years. They also lived at Menlo, Anita and Dexter.
To this union were born three sons: Maurice L. of Earlham; Laurence C. who died in 1918, and Clark W. of Dexter.
Mrs. Neff was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and sisters, her son, and her husband October 15th, 1943. She has made her home during recent years at the Garwood Convalescent Home in Dexter.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Galloway of Casey, Iowa, a brother Clyde W. Edwards of Omaha, Nebraska, her two sons, and two granddaughters, Agnes Neff and Carolyn Neff of Williams, Iowa, and many relatives and friends.
