MRS. LILLIAN MURPHY DIES AT DAVENPORT

Mrs. Lillian Murphy of Davenport, the former Lillian Tilton of Winterset, died this Tuesday, June 30, at a hospital in Davenport. She was 71 years of age.

Mrs. Murphy was a daughter of Thomas W. and Phoebe E. Tilton, and was born and spent her early life in Madison county. She was a sister of Homer and W. H. Tilton of Winterset. Her home had been at Davenport for about 20 years.

Short funeral services will be held this Thursday at Davenport, after which the body will be brought to Winterset for funeral services this Friday, at 3 p.m., at the Richards Funeral home. The Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church will be in charge. Burial will be made in Winterset cemetery.

LILLIAN MURPHY RITES HELD FRIDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Murphy of Davenport were held last Friday from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. John Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Her death had occurred June 30 at Davenport.

Mrs. Murphy was the former Lillian S. Tilton, daughter of Thomas W. and Phoebe E. Tilton. She was born in Madison county Dec. 18, 1887, and was 71 years of age at her death.

She was married July 5, 1909, to Talley Jordan, and they lived in Des Moines until 1930. They were parents of four children, Clifford Homer, now of Cedar Rapids; Willard Tilton of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Robert Talley of Washougal, Wash.; and Sarah Berniece Ebert of Davenport.

On March 29, 1945, she was married to George W. Murphy, and they made their home at Davenport, where she was employed as a trained practical nurse at Mercy hospital. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Davenport.

Surviving are her husband, George W. Murphy, who is seriously ill at a hospital in Davenport and was unable to attend the funeral. She also leaves her four children; two brothers, William Harrison Tilton and Homer Garfield Tilton, both of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Perkins of Indianola; two step-daughters, Mrs. Clifford Boldt of Davenport and Mrs. Robert Young of Annaheim, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
