Wednesday, February 5, 1947BION D. HOBBS, 78, Dies at Iowa City
Bion D. Hobbs, a resident of Winterset for 30 years, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1947, at the state hospital in Iowa City, after a short illness. He was 78 years of age.
Mr. Hobbs was a native of Ft. Madison where he was born Feb. 1, 1869. His early active years were spent as a railroad machinist in Ft. Madison and at St. Louis, Mo.
He came to Winterset 30 years - and worked here as an automobile mechanic until failing health forced his retirement.
He was married Nov. 26, 1891, to Maggie Belle Rees. She died in 1937.
His nearest surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. Nettie Pyle, and a niece, Mrs. Bert Maize, both of St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Hobbs was a member of the Baptist church at Ft. Madison until a few years ago when he transferred to the Methodist church in Winterset.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 3:30 p.m. from Anderson's home for funerals. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
