Dale was born August 23, 1929 in Adair County, Iowa, the son of Henry G. and Della I. (Harris) Welch. He went to country school in Madison Township and graduated from De Soto High School. He later married Wanda Wulff on September 16, 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset and to this union was born three daughters, Vicki L., Sherry A., and Cindy L.

Dale served two years in the United States Army in Texas and Detroit, Michigan. He was a farmer, farming 47 years in the Macksburg area. He was a Webster Township Trustee for many years and a member of Farm Bureau. He loved all baby animals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and mushrooming; Dale loved being outdoors.

Dale is survived by his wife, Wanda of Winterset; three daughters, Vicki Brown and husband, Tim of Creston, Iowa; Sherry Bliss and husband, Jim of Andover, Ohio; and Cindy Wiles and husband, Mike of Winterset, Iowa; two brothers Donald Welch and wife, Florence of Winterset, Iowa; Howard Welch and wife, Dorothy of Texas; and one sister, Irene Barber and husband, Jim of Puyallup, Washington; five grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several cousins, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
