Funeral Services Were Held Friday for Long-Time Resident
Leon J. Morse, a long-time resident of Madison and Dallas counties, died last Thursday, Jan. 22, at a Winterset nursing home. He was 86 years of age.
Mr. Morse was a native of Illinois, where he was born near Joliet on Aug. 29, 1872, a son of W. C. and Lydia Morse. He came to Iowa in 1901, and farmed in Dallas and Madison counties until eight years ago, when he moved into Patterson, and later to Winterset.
He was married in 1903 to Wilda McKibben, who survives him.
He was a life-time member of the Methodist church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, W. C. Morse of Macksburg; five daughters, Maxine Jensen of Winterset, Ella and Grace Osborn of Winterset, Irene Bankson of Unionville, Mo., and Muriel Lathrum of St. Charles; 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of C. A. McMurray. Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery, south of Patterson.
