W. C. HENDRICKS DIED THURSDAY

Death Occurs at Age of 46 Years After Extended Illness

Walter E. Hendricks, a life-long resident of the Winterset area, died Thursday, Aug. 20, at Memorial hospital here. His death followed an extended illness. He was 46 years of age.

Mr. Hendricks was born on a farm north of Winterset on Feb. 23, 1913, a son of Oliver E. and Blanche Hendricks. He was married to Vyrle Silliman on Feb. 22, 1940. They were parents of seven children.

For the past 15 years he had engaged in business as a custom butcher and tree surgeon.

Surviving are his wife, the seven children, Donald, Doris, Marliss, Walter, Jr., Robert, Gregory and Jean Ann Hendricks, all at home. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Blanche Hendricks of Winterset; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Miner of Winterset, Mrs. Margaret Jones of Des Moines, Mrs. Laona Goater of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Wilda Stepp, of Rochester, Minn.; and two brothers, William Hendricks of Battle Lake, Minn., and Ralph Hendricks of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
