Death Occurred Last Friday At Hospital in Osceola
Cliff J. Halterman of Truro, a life-long resident of Madison county, died last Friday, March 27, at the Clark county hosptial in Osceola. He was 63 years of age.
Mr. Halterman had been employed by the Natural Gas Pipeline company of America for the last 21 years. He was born in Madison county Feb. 23, 1896, a son of James and Mary Ann Halterman. His early life was spent in farming, until he went to work for the Pipeline company in 1938.
He was married May 15, 1918, at Indianola, to Olive Clark. He was a veteran of World War I., and was a member of the V.F.W. post at St. Charles and of the Congregational church at Truro.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Reed of Des Moines; one granddaughter; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Shealy of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted byt the Rev. Dale Lockart. Burial was made in Young cemetery at Truro.

Halterman, son of James and Mary Ann Halterman, was born in Madison county on February 23, 1896 and departed this life on March 27, 1959 in the Clarke county hospital at the age of 63 years, one month and four days. He had been in ill health for some time, but had spent most of his time at home until a few days prior to his death.
He spent his entire life in Madison county as a farmer until 1938 when he accepted employment with the Natural Gas Pipeline Co., for whom he worked a total of 21 years. On January 18, 1959, he was honored with an award for 20 years of service with the company. Mr. Halterman also served his country as a soldier during World War I.
On May 15, 1918 he was united in marriage to Olive Clark. To this union one child, Mrs. Charles Reed of Des Moines, was born.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Olive, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Reed of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Alice Shealy of Des Moines, and one granddaughter, Beverly Jo, besides a host of friends and neighbors.
Cliff was a member of the Congregational church at Truro and VFW of St. Charles. He was a friend to everyone and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
