Funeral Services Held on Monday; Burial in Local Cemetery
Earl N. Brokaw, a resident of Winterset since 1953, died Sunday, Nov. 27, at Madison county Memorial hospital here. He was 52 years of age. Death resulted from cancer.
Mr. Brokaw was a native of Corning, where he was born Nov. 24, 1907, a son of Willis and Inez Brokaw. His early life was spent on farms near Corning and Lenox, and as a harness maker in Corning.
He was married Nov. 28, 1928, to Mable Pearl Barton. They moved to Des Moines in 1936. In 1947, they moved to the St. Charles community, where he farmed and operated a cabinet shop until 1951. In 1953 they came to Winterset. He was employed here at the Winterset Implement company as mechanic and salesman.
He was a member of Grace Baptist church in this community.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Kenneth Brokaw; a daughter, Mrs. Gene Crawford; and four grandsons, all of Winterset; his mother, Mrs. Inez Brokaw of Des Moines; four brothers, Wesley Brokaw of Mitchelville, Willis and Roland Brokaw of Los Angeles, and Carl Brokaw of Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Tom Cross of Des Moines and Fern Chandler of Hannibal, Mo.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Richard Mohr, pastor of the Grace Baptist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
