Everett Franz Groth, 97, of Winterset died April 2, 2007, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset, with family receiving friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.
Everett Groth was born Jan. 28, 1910, in Winterset to Frank W. and Loise M. (Frech) Groth and was a 1927 graduate of Winterset High School. His marriage to Esther Pauline McDonald took place Sept. 7, 1938, in Wellman. A lifetime resident of Winterset and longtime farmer, Everett was active in the community — serving as a 4-H leader and, for over 30 years, secretary and treasurer of the Madison County Fair Board. He also was a member of the Madison County Pork Producers and Winterset First United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and church trustee.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Kermit Groth and Lloyd Groth; and two sisters, Katherine Groth and Louise Bunyard.
He is survived by one son, Paul E. Groth of Boulder, Colo.; one daughter, Linda L. Beaman-Sublett of Dove Creek, Colo.; and seven grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.Memorials given to the family will be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Middle River Hospice or Jackson Community Building.

Everett Franz Groth, 97, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, at First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset, Iowa.
Everett was born on January 28, 1910, at Winterset to Frank W. and Louise M. (Frech) Groth. He was married on September 7, 1938, at Wellman, Iowa, to Esther Pauline McDonald.
He had been a lifetime farmer and a lifetime resident of Winterset. Everett had been secretary and treasurer of the Madison County Fair Board for over 30 years; a 4-H leader; had been active in the Madison County Pork Producers; had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset and was a former Sunday School Teacher and church trustee. He was a 1927 graduate of Winterset High School, enjoyed watching sporting events on TV and loved to travel.
Everett is survived by his son, Paul E. (Linda) Groth of Boulder, Colorado; daughter, Linda L. (Cecil) Beaman-Sublett of Dove Creek, Colorado; seven grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and four step- great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lizzie Groth; wife, Esther Groth; brothers, Kermit Groth and Lloyd Groth; and sisters, Katherine Groth and Louise Bunyard.
Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials given to the family will be directed to First United Methodist Church, Middle River Hospice or the Jackson Community Building.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel and Funeral Services in Winterset.
