March 2, 1944SARAH JANE (WEST) VAUGHAN
Mrs. Sarah Jane (West) Vaughan was born June 21, 1868 in Cabell county, West Virginia, and departed this life west of Earlham, Iowa, at the home of her son Clarence, Sunday, February 27, 1944 at the age of 75 years, eight months and six days. The most of her life was spent in and around Davisville, West Virginia.
She was united in marriage to Irvin Barnett Vaughan October 30, 1890 at Davisville, West Virginia. To this union eight children were born, Charles C. Vaughan of Davisville; Samuel M. Vaughan, Mrs. Howard E. Harper of Parkersburg, West Virginia; Mrs. Mary B. Petty, Mrs. Howard N. Marlow of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Lewis L. Coe, Miss Geraldine Vaughan and Clarence W. Vaughan of Earlham. Besides the immediate family she leaves four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. C. R. Stephens, Miss Minnie West of Parkersburg, West Virginia; Miss May West, William West, G. Cleveland West of Gilbert, Arizona, and Mrs. Poca Janes of San Francisco, California. Twenty-five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Vaughan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stillwell, West Virginia. Mrs. Vaughan was not so well known in this community for since her coming, she has been ill much of the time. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a kind, patient, loving mother who had the joy of seeing her family grow to manhood and womanhood, going out to make homes for themselves.
“She resteth from her labors, and works do follow her.”Card of Thanks
