Funeral Services Wednesday For Native of Patterson Community
Mrs. Grace Bird, a resident of Madison county most of her life, died at Memorial hospital in Winterset Monday, June 22. She was 84 years of age.
Mrs. Bird was the former Grace Blosser, daughter of Samuel and Alia Jane Blosser, and was born near Patterson Sept. 15, 1874. As a young woman she was married to Graham Bird. They farmed south of Patterson for many years, then moved to Des Moines, where they lived for 20 years. Mr. Bird died about 18 years ago and since then her home had been in Winterset.
In addition to her husband, a son, Butler B. Bird, preceded her in death. She is survived by Kenneth L. Bird of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Noah Blosser of Patterson; and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Guilliams of Winterset, and Mrs. Beulah Grout of St. Charles.
She was a member of the University Church of Christ in Des Moines.
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. this Wednesday from the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial will be made in the McGinnis cemetery near Patterson.
