Mrs. Addie A. Kelley, a former resident of Winterset and Earlham, died Dec. 7 at Santa Barbara, Calif., following a long illness.
She was the former Addie Emerson, daughter of James and Lydia Miller Emerson, and was born at Peru on Jan. 8, 1888. She was 71 years of age at her death.
Mrs. Kelley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Kelley, in 1958. They had moved to Santa Barbara from Madison county in 1945.
She is survived by three children, Mrs. Opal Reise and Mrs. Clarence Underhill of Santa Barbara, and Virgil Kelley of Greeley, colo. She also leaves four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Derry, Loyal and Arnie Emerson, all of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. C. A. Shearer and Mrs. Nellie Simmons, also of Winterset.
Funeral services were conducted last Wednesday from the Welch-Ryce chapel in Santa Barbara, by the Rev. James Nelson of the Calvary Baptist church. Burial was made in the Santa Barbara cemetery.

Mrs. Addie A. Kelley, a former resident of Earlham, passed away in Santa Barbara, California on December 7, 1959 following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Chas. S. Kelley in 1958.
Mrs. Kelley moved to Santa Barbara from Madison County in 1845 with her husband, following their retirement.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday from the Welch-Ryce Associates Chapel with the Rev. James Nelson of the Calvary Baptist church officiating.
Mrs. Kelley is survived by three children, Mrs. Opal Reise and Mrs. Clarence Underhill of Santa Barbara and one son, Virgil Kelley of Greeley, Colorado. There are also three brothers, Derry Emerson, Loyal and Arnie Emerson of Winterset and two sisters, Mrs. C. A. Shearer and Mrs. Nellie Simmons, also of Winterset. There are also four grandchildren and three great grandchildren surviving.
Interment services followed at the Santa Barbara cemetery.
Mrs. Kelley was born on January 8, 1888 in Peru, Iowa, the daughter of the late James and Lydia Miller Emerson. She was married to Mr. Kelley in Madison Co. in 1904.
