Charles A. Kellogg, former Winterset business man, died Thursday Jan. 30, 1947 at Yale, Ia. He was 63 years of age.
Mr. Kellogg was born in Scott township on April 13, 1883, the son of J. M. and Ellen James Kellogg. He spent his youth on the farm where he was born, but as a young man, he learned the trade of barber. He located at Odebolt, where he worked as a barber for many years, until ill health forced him into retirement, when he moved to Cedar Rapids.
About 10 years ago he came to Winterset, and was in business here until January, 1946.
On Jan. 7, 1909, he was married to Miss Margaret Cort of Ida Grove. they were the parents of a daughter, Florence.
He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Odebolt for more than 30 years, and of the Odd Fellows lodge there more than 25 years.
Mr. Kellogg is survived by his wife and daughter; one granddaughter; and a brotehr, Frank Kellogg of Winterset.
Brief funeral rites were held at Yale, Ia., after which the body was brought to Winterset where services were held Sunday, with Masonic rites, from the Anderson home for funerals. Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery near Winterset.
