Mrs. D. W. Short, life-long resident of Madison county, died at the Lane nursing home Saturday, October 25th, 1947, after an extended illness. She was 76 years of age.
Mrs. Short was the former Myrtle Wight, daughter of George and Cornelia Wight. She was born in Webster township, March 8, 1871, and that township continued to be her home until she and her husband moved to Winterset ten years ago.
She was married to Dennis W. Short, March 5th, 1890. They went to housekeeping on a farm in Webster township, and later they bought the farm where Mrs. Short had been born and they resided there for 30 years before moving to Winterset.
They were the parents of two children: Lawrence Chester Short of Chicago, and Mrs. Winifred Silverthorn of Winterset. Mrs. Short is survived by her husband, their two children and three grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Claude Wight, of Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Susie Liner of Cove, Ark.
The Rev. R. S. Hindman of Maxwell, conducted her funeral services at the Anderson home for funerals, Tuesday, Oct. 28th at two o'clock, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
