REQUIEM MASS SAID FOR HUGH E. WRIGHT

Winterset Naval Flyer Lost on Bombing Raid Over Caroline Isle

A requiem high mass was said at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset Monday for Hugh E. Wright, A.O.M.2/c of the U. S. navy, from Winterset, who has been missing in action in the Pacific since Dec. 20. Latest information has indicated that there is practically no hope of his survival.

The mass was said by the Rev. J. J. Judge, pastor of St. Joseph's church.

It has been learned that the mission from which Petty Officer Wright's plane did not return was a raid against Wojoal island, which is one of Japan's largest bases in the Caroline islands. The plane on which he was serving as a gunner was a Ventura patrol bomber.
