MRS. LAURA YOUNG DIED ON MONDAY

Services Held Wednesday for Well –Known Resident of St. Charles

ST. CHARLES- Mrs. Laura M. Young, widely-known St. Charles woman, died Monday Aug 18, after an extended illness. She was 84 years of age.

Mrs. Young was the former Laura Madelene Weede, daughter of John and Magdalene Weede. She was born Oct. 5, 1867, at Elmyra, in Starke county, Illinois. In the spring of 1868 she came to Iowa with her parents. They settled on a farm southeast of St. Charles and this community had been her home since that time.

Her marriage to Caissaius J. Young occurred May 23, 1875. They were the parents of one son, who died at birth, Mr. Young died in 1931.

She was a long-time member of the United Presbyterian church here.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Eva Dyer of Indianola and Mrs. Lelia McCulley of St. Charles; two brothers, J. C. Weede of California and J. B. Weede of Des Moines; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the St. Charles United Presbyterian church, in charge of the Rev. F. R. McLean. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
