MRS. CHARLES CRAWFORD

Sarah Ellen, daughter of William and Susan Jane Reed, was born in Jones county, Iowa, July 11, 1870 and departed this life March 10, 1923, aged 52 years, 7 months and 28 days.

She made profession of her faith in Christ and united with the Union, now Pitzer congregations, Feb. 9, 1884, during the pastorate of Rev. James Sawhill. She was united in marriage to Charles Crawford Sept. 21, 1892 by her former pastor, Rev. James Sawhill.

To this union were born three sons; George W., Cash A. and Earl E., all of whom remain. In addition to the husband and sons, there remain two brothers, Thomas of Hayward, Calif., and William of Pasadena; three sisters: Margaret J. Kennedy of Santa Anna, Calif.; Matilda Houtby of Fowler, Calif., and Angie Dooley of Dexter, who with a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn the departure of wife, mother, sister and friend.

Mrs. Charles Crawford died at Clarinda on Friday, March 9th. The body was brought home for burial at Penn Center, services being conducted by Rev. Charles McClung at Pitzer, on Sunday.

Mrs. Crawford, nee Sadie Reed, had been in the hospital at Clarinda for 18 years. She is survived by Mr. Crawford and three sons. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Reed, were early residents of Jackson township.
