Life-Long Resident of This County Was 80 Years of Age
Mrs. Eva L. Parkins, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Thursday, June 26, after a lingering illness. Her death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Silverthorn of Winterset. Mrs. Parkins was 80 years of age.
She was the former Eva L. Bowlsby, daughter of William and Maria Duff Bowlsby and was born March 26, 1872, in the Worthington community. She later lived in Lincoln and Grand River townships before moving to Winterset in 1943 to spend the last nine years of her life here.
She was married November 29, 1883 to J. H Parkins. They were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Silverthorn and Mrs. Bessie E. Rhoads of near Winterset, and a son, Glenn, whose death occurred in 1907.
She had been a member of the Worthington Methodist church since early life.
In addition to her daughters, she leaves two grandsons; and two sisters, Mrs. Katie Tough and Mrs. Velma Olson.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Worthington church, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Worthington cemetery.
