BELLE LILLIBRIDGE

Belle Mains, daughter of Daniel and Lucretia Mains, was born August 8, 1878, in Menlo, Iowa, and quietly passed away at her home in Earlham, May 5, 1952. She graduated from the Menlo school after which she taught for several years. Part of that time she taught in the Menlo school.

While attending teacher’s Institute of Guthrie county, she received the highest grade of the Institute. She was rewarded with a scholarship for this to Highland park College of Des Moines, which she attended for one year.

She was married to W. A. Lillibridge June 12, 1901, at Menlo. To this union was born a son, Wayne, who passed away February 6, 1930 at the age of twenty-six years.

Mrs. And Mrs. Lillibridge moved to a farm near Woolstock, Iowa after they were married and remained there for five years. Then they came to Earlham to their present home where they have lived for forty-six years.

Mrs. Lillibridge was quite active in community life. She was a member of the Sorosis Club, the Rebekahs and Eastern Star, and the Methodist church. She taught a Sunday School class for fourteen years and was Recording Steward of our Quarterly Conference and Official Board since the beginning of the building of this present Methodist church in 1910. She did this in an excellent way.

Her brother Lee of Des Moines, and her sister, Ella Miller of Dexter preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and a host of friends.

LILLIBRIDGE RITES HELD LAST THURSDAY

EARLHAM-Mrs. W. A. Lillibridge, a well-known resident of this community for 46 years, died at her home here Monday, May 5, at the age of 73 years. Death resulted from a heart attack.

Mrs. Lillibridge was the former Belle Mains, daughter of Daniel and Lucretia Mains of Menlo; where she was born Aug. 8, 1878. As a young woman she engaged in teaching school. She was married at Menlo on June 12, 1901 to W. A. Lillibridge, who survives. They were the parents of a son, Wayne, whose death occurred in 1930.

Mrs. Lillibridge was a member of the Earlham Methodist church and was active in its affairs. She was active also in the Sorosis Society, Rebekahs and Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held from the Earlham Methodist church last Thursday, conducted by the Rev. C. A. Crouse, assisted by the Rev. S. R. Overholser. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
