Young Woman Accidentally Takes Overdose of Sleeping Tablets
Virginia Farlow, popular Winterset young woman, who has been engaged in the nursing profession in Des Moines recently, died Monday afternoon at the Iowa Methodist hospital. She was 23 years of age.
Death was reported to have been caused by an overdose of sleeping tablets, taken accidentally.
The young woman was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Welba Farlow of Winterset, who have been spending the winter on the west coast.
Miss Farlow spent most of her life in Winterset. She attended the local schools, graduating from the Winterset high school with the class of 1941. After working here at Johnson's Pharmacy for a year, she went to Des Moines to take nurse's training at the Iowa Methodist hospital, graduating last September.
Since September she had been night ward supervisor at the Blank Memorial hospital in Des Moines.
In her brief career in nursing she had enjoyed unusual success, promptly attaining a position of responsibility on the hospital staff. Her co-workers there have lauded her ability and accomplishments in the highest fashion.
Mr. and Mrs. Farlow arrived here Wednesday morning after an emergency trip from California. Funeral services will be held this Friday at 3 p.m. from Anderson's home for funerals.
(Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery)
