EVERET SHERMAN SULGROVE

Everet Sherman Sulgrove, third son of William Sherman and Eva Sulgrove, was born in the Pitzer community, Madison county, Iowa, on October 4th, 1891 and passed away at the Dexter hospital on November 13th, 1947 at the age of 56 years, one month and nine days. He was educated in the Madison county schools and in Kansas City, Missouri.

From the early spring of 1910 until the summer of 1914 he, with his brothers Willard and George, operated an ice skating rink in Canada.

During the early days of World War I he enlisted in the army and served overseas in France until the end of the war. In 1919 he returned to the United States and in the fall of that year he came to Dexter where he engaged in the garage business.

In June 1922 he was married to Nell Morford, who died in June 1933. From the time of his return to Dexter he was engaged in garage business, operating the Sulgrove Motor Co. handling John Deere implements and Pontiac cars, making many friends in these organizations.

In January 1934 he was married to Lenore Irene Myers of Dexter. During the years he was engaged in business he had taken an active part in Dexter community affairs and in the American Legion. He had been in poor health for several months but had remained active in business until the time of his death.

He is survived by his loving wife, two sisters, Mrs. Grace Roxsin of Charles City; Mrs. Lois Moore of Earlham; and by three brothers, Willard and Lester of Forsythe, Missouri, and George of Earlham. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one brother, Ora.

When a young man he united with the Early Chapel Church of Christ, Everet, known to his friends as "Hank" was especially interested in young people and had been a helpful influence in the lives of dozens of Dexter boys whom he was always ready to counsel and aid.

The funeral service was held from his home and the Dexter Methodist church, Saturday, November 15th with the pastor of the church in charge assisted by the Rev. J. Neal Clemmer, a former pastor. Mrs. Lewis Webb rendered two solos: Rock of Ages and In the Garden. The pall bearers were: Mr. John Hadley, Mr. Franz Lenocker, Mr. Glenn Short, Mr. Bruce Godby and Mr. Russell Horn. That which was mortal was laid to rest at the Penn Center cemetery. May our friend and neighbor rest in peace.

EVERETT SULGROVE Succumbs At Dexter

Everett S. Sulgrove, a Dexter business man for many years and member of a well known Madison county family, died last Thursday, Nov. 13, 1947, at the Dexter hospital. He was 56 years old.

He was the proprietor of the Sulgrove Motor company in Dexter, a business he had operated since 1919. He was a leader in Community affairs at Dexter.

Born at Pizer on Oct. 4, 1891, the son of William and Eva Sulgrove, his early education was received in the Madison county schools and at Kansas Cty, Mo.

He was a veteran of he first World war, having served in France with the U.S. Army.

He was married in June 1922, to Nell Morford, whose death occurred in June 1933. In January, 1934, he was married to Lenore I. Myers, who survives him.

Mr. Sulgrove also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Grace Roxein of Charles City and Mrs. Lois Moore of Earham; and three brothers, Willard and Lester Sulgrove of Forsythe, Mo., and George Sulgrove of Earlham.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Dexter Methodist church and burial as made in the Penn Center cemetery.
