ANNETTA DELL MORFORD

Mrs. Annetta Dell Morford, daughter of Eliza and Alice Allen was born December 18th, 1858, and passed to her eternal reward September 2nd, 1947 at the age of 88 years, eight months and 14 days. She was the second of eight children of whom two died in infancy. At the age of nine she, with her parents, sisters and brothers, moved by covered wagon from her birthplace, Attica, Indiana, to the vicinity of North Henderson, Illinois. On December 24th, 1879 she was married to John Jasper Morford who preceded her in death since June 29th, 1937.

The following children, all surviving their mother, were born to them, Mrs. Lillian Leeper of Dexter; Mrs. Ora Lenocker of Dexter, Mrs. Nettie Moore of Dexter, Mrs. Lena Myers of Houston, Texas; Mr. Fred H. Morford of Dexter; Mrs. Ruth Cummings f Dexter, and Mr. Hazen A. Morford of Earlham.

In 1889 she moved with her family to a farm south of Dexter, where she lived until 1919 when she and her husband moved into the town of Dexter. She leaves to mourn her departure, besides her children, one brother, Mr. George Allen of North Henderson, Illinois, 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Mrs. Morford joined the church at an early age and was at her passing a member of the Penn Center Methodist church. During the past six months she was mostly bedfast, but well cared for by loving hands. She lived a noble life and did a long days work. Her children "arise up and call her blessed."

The funeral service was held from her home and at the Methodist church at Dexter, September 4th with her pastor in charge, assisted by the Rev. T. J. Pettit of Stuart. Mrs. K. N. Chapler at the piano, two duets were sung by Mr. Drew and Mrs. Imboden. A committee of ladies from the Penn Center church was in charge of the flowers and the casket bearers were: Mr. John Love, Mr. Will Moore, Mr. Mason Calley, Mr. Harry Dunmire, Mr. James Graham and Mr. W. M. Curry. Her body was tenderly laid to rest at the Penn Center cemetery.
