FRED H. WALDRON DIED SATURDAY

Succumbs at Home Here After Long Illness; Services Held Tuesday

Fred H. Waldron passed away at his home in the north part of Winterset, Saturday, Sept. 28, after a long illness. Mr. Waldron, who was 78 years of age, suffered a stroke four years ago, and had been bedfast since that time.

A son of Edmond M. and Abigail E. Waldron, he was born March 16, 1868, in Mercer county, Mo. When a young man he moved to Gallatin, Mo., which place was his home for over 30 years.

He was married to Miss Hazel Genevieve Shively, Aug. 30, 1910, at Gallatin, and they were the parents of two children, Granville and Freda Fern.

In 1924, Mr. and Mrs. Waldron and children moved to Winterset, and this town has since been their home. Until the year of 1937, at which time he was retired, he served 40 years as foreman in the Maintenance of Way department of the Rock Island railroad, serving here in that capacity for 13 years.

Mr. Waldron became a member of the First christian church at Gallatin when he was a young man.

He is survived by his wife and their two children: Granville of Winterset, and Mrs. Joseph Benjamin of Plainfield. He also leaves two granddaughters, Sharon Jo and Diane Benjamin of Plainfield; a sister, Mrs. George Sawyers of Newkirk, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. W. R. Watkins, pastor of the Church of Christ, conducted his funeral services, which were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
