Page 1MRS. ALICE BROWN DIES AT 79 YEARS
Leaves Nine Children, all Living in Madison County
Mrs. Alice Brown, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Wednesday, March 26, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Fogler of Patterson. She was 79 years of age.
Mrs. Brown was the former Alice Roxy Barber, daughter of John and Louisa Barber. She was born in this county Dec. 3, 1872. On Aug. 17, 1893, she was married to Samuel G. Brown. Her husband, three sons, Claude, Clarence and Gail, and an infant daughter, all preceded her in death.
She is survived by five sons, George and John of Winterset, Ernest Brown of St. Charles, and Eugene and Arthur Brown of Patterson; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Drake and Mrs. Elma Fogler of Patterson, Mrs. Geneva Bertholf of Winterset, and Mrs. Florence Fairholm of Peru. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Laura McKanna of Three Forks, Mont.; and two brothers, Arthur and Walter Barber of Lincoln, Neb.; and 22 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
