Ella Marie Slavens, daughter of William and Ann Pearson was born in Dallas county, Iowa, on January 21, 1887. When a small child her parents moved to Earlham, Iowa, where she attended school, graduating with the class of 1905. She was married December 30, 1908 to Tide Slavens.

To this union four children came to bless the home: Guy William, with the army of occupation in Germany; Ila Wynette, at home; Roy Wyman, in the hospital at Knoxville, and Donald Warren, with the army in the southwest Pacific. She united with the Earlham Methodist church in the winter of 1909. She had been suffering from sickness and loneliness for her three boys for many months and wanted so much to live until they could all be at home again, but the Heavenly Father saw fit to take her home where there is neither sorrow nor suffering, and October 11th at the evening hour she passed on to her Eternal Home.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Tide Slavens who with her daughter Ila have so faithfully cared for her during her last sickness and her three sons who will miss her cheery presence in the home and one brother, Lloyd Pearson, who lives in Des Moines, and a host of friends and other relatives.

Mrs. Tide Slavens Died Thursday Evening

Mrs. Tide Slavens died at her home in Earlham Thursday evening about 6:00 o’clock. Her health had been poorly for some time.

She is survived by her husband and three sons, Guy and Don, both in the army overseas and Roy who was in the navy but now is in the veterans hospital at Knoxville, and one daughter, Ila, now at home.
