CRASH INJURIES PROVE FATAL

Burdette Winebrenner Dies Two Weeks Following Accident

Burdette Winebrenner, 23, of near Peru, died Tuesday night at a Des Moines hospital of injuries received in a highway accident here two weeks ago.

It was the first highway fatality of 1959 in Madison county.

The fatal accident occurred Wednesday, Feb. 4. Young Winebrenner, who was driving a milk pickup truck, lost control of the vehicle as he was driving from a side road onto highway No. 169 at the intersection a quarter mile south of Podunk. The truck went into the ditch and overturned. The driver received a head concussion which prevented him from remembering just what had occurred, but investigating officers said there were indications that the truck's brakes had failed as the vehicle was coming onto the highway.

Burdette was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Winebrenner of Scott township.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. this Friday from the Peru Methodist church. Burial will be made at Guthrie Center.
