Wednesday, March 7, 1945SAM R. COLTRANE KILLED IN ACTION
St. Sgt. Sam R. Coltrane, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam R. Coltrane of St. Charles, who live in Warren county, was killed in action in Belgium on Dec. 18, according to word received recently.
Sergeant Coltrane was serving with an armored division.
Piror to entering service, he farmed with his father in Warren county. He was a graduate of the Indianola high school and attended Simpson college.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a brother, Eugene Coltrane of Iowa City; and two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Watson of Des Moines, and Mrs. Maxine Morturella of St. Charles.
