DEATH OF JACOB HUBBARD

Jacob Hubbard, a pioneer of Lee township, died at his home at Greenfield, Saturday, December first, and burial was made at Montieth, in Guthrie county, Monday, December 3.

Mr. Hubbard came to Madison county with his father, Andrew Hubbard, in 1853, and he lived in Lee township until after he was grown. For the past few years he has made his home in Greenfield. His brother, Peter Hubbard, died at Guthrie Center about two years ago. The deceased is survived by a brother, Nick Hubbard, of Booneville, and a sister, Mrs. John Stockwell, of Urbana. Mr. Stockwell, who was a resident for many years in Union township, died April 1, 1928, at Urbana, at the age of 85 years. Mr. Stockwell was a Civil war veteran and lost an eye in the service. Later he lost an eye while chopping wood for George Cox, so he had been blind for forty years.

The Stockwells and Hubbards were well known in the northeast part of the county, forty or more years ago.
