Winterset Resident Succumbs to Heart Attack at His Home Here
William F. Wilkinson, familiarly known as Billy Wilkinson throughout his long life in this community died suddenly last Thursday of a heart attack suffered at his home in Winterset. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Wilkinson's entire life was spent in this community. During his long active life he worked as a blacksmith, and was widely known here for his industry and upright character.
Mr. Wilkinson was born in Madison county on Oct. 28, 1863, the son of John and Sarah Ellen Wilkinson. He was married on July 3, 1888, to Estina Thornburg. They were the parents of three sons. Mrs. Wilkinson died in 1910.
He is survived by the three sons, Lloyd, Guy and Waldo Wilkinson all of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. George Shoemaker of Winterset and Mrs. Pearl McKinnis of Des Moines; five brothers, Henry Wilkinson of Winterset, Caleb, Elmer and John Wilkinson of Des Moines, and Rolla Wilkinson of Rockford, Ill.; in addition to four grandsons and three granddaughters.
Funeral services were held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Sunday, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Davis, assisted by the Rev. Tom Foglesong of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Was Blacksmith Here Many Years, Funeral Service Sunday Afternoon
William F. Wilkinson, a well known resident of Winterset who spent his entire lifetime of 75 years in Madison county, died suddenly Thursday afternoon at his home on West Green street.
William Franklin, was the son of John and Sarah Ellen Wilkinson, and was born October 28, 1863 in Madison county. When a young man he worked with his brother in their father’s blacksmith shop. Later he and Henry conducted the shop until their retirement about 15 years ago. He was married July 3, 1888 to Estina Thornburg. To this union was born three sons.
He is survived by his three sons, Lloyd, Guy and Waldo; five brothers, Henry of Winterset; Caleb, Elmer and John of Des Moines and Rolla of Rockford, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. George Shoemaker of Winterset and Mrs. Pearl McKinnis of Des Moines; four grandsons, three granddaughters and a host of relatives.
Funeral services were held from the Ramsey – Richards funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Davis, assisted by Rev. Tom Foglesong. Mrs. Myles Young III was the soloist accompanied by Mrs. Pearl Newerf at the piano. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
