Donald Hendrickson, Age 14, of Bevington Is Victim

Donald Gene Hendrickson, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hendrickson of Bevington was fatally shot while hunting last Thursday afternoon near his father's farm southeast of Bevington.
Donald and his brother-in-law, Eulis Lewis of Des Moines, had been sitting on a log, resting. Donald reached for his gun, which he had placed back of them, on the opposite side of the log. As he grasped it by the barrel and pulled it toward him, the gun discharged accidentally, and the charge entered his heart. He died instantly.
The boy was an eighth grade student at Smedley school.
Besides his parents, he leaves four brothers, Lowell and Dale at home, Rola of Prole and Francis of Des Moines; and the following sisters: Mrs. Doris Legg of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Wilma Hope of St. Charles, Mrs. Ilean Hayes of Shenandoah, Mrs. Lois Lewis of Des Moines, and Mrs. Inez Green of Fairfax, Mo.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Wick Methodist church with burial in the cemetery there.
