MRS. MARGARET ANN RICHMOND

Margaret Ann Harriman, was born near Martinsville, Morgan county, on Sept. 7, 1845, and died in Missoula, Mont., Jan. 30, 1914, age 68 years, and 23 days.

She came with her parents to Van Buren county Iowa in 1846 and to Douglas township Madison County in December 1867 where she lived until 22 years ago when she moved to De Soto. She was married to Wm. S. Richmond Feb. 25, 1868 by Rev. John Hestwood. To them five children were born, Verna K. Richmond, Mrs. Carrie Earp of Waukee, Iowa, Hester Richmond and Betha Pape of Kirkwood, Ill., and Mrs. Stella Furry of Arlee, Montana, with whom Mrs. Richmond made her home the last seven years. She has seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, all living.

Her husband died March 7, 1892, at his home in Douglas township this county, and was buried in Pleasant View cemetery, by whose side his wife was also laid to rest.

She has surviving her one brother, Harvey Harriman of Mt. Sterling, and two sisters, Mrs. Thos. Hanback of Bonaparte, and Mrs. Isaac Boyer of Keosauqua.

At an early age, she was converted and while a resident in Madison County, she was a member of the West Star M. E. church. Her former neighbors in Douglas township, who knew her most intimately, speak of Mrs Richmond as a good, kind, loving mother, devoted to her family as an active and consecrated christian, and as a neighbor she was in her ministry of kindness, like precious ointment poured forth.
