Several Years of Illness Ends in Death Of Local Resident. Funeral Thursday.
Lindsay Thomas, 69, passed away at his home here Tuesday morning after an illness extending over a period of several years.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Reece are being held this afternoon at 2:30 at the Friends church. Interment will be in the Earlham cemetery.
LINDSAY THOMAS
Lindsay Thomas, son of Peter and Princelle Thomas, was born near Fountain City, Wayne county, Indiana, December 4th 1867. When Mr. Thomas was 14 years of age his father died leaving the mother with six children to support. They all remained together upon an Indiana farm until Mr. Thomas was twenty-one, at which time he came to Iowa.
In Iowa he made his home with his uncle Mark and aunt Mead Thomas until he was married to Charlotte Diggs on the occasion of his twenty-seventh birthday.
Since that time he and his wife have lived on a farm near Earlham except for a year in California and the last few months here in town.
To Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were born two sons, Wayne Diggs, who now resides on the old home place. Loyal Peter, General Secretary of Y.M.C.A. of Hastings, Nebraska, and one daughter Lillian Princelle, wife of Earl Sifert, superintendent of Maywood schools, Maywood, Illinois.
Beside the wife, sons, and daughter there is left to mourn his passing, three grandsons, Niol Thomas, Oliver Thomas and Thomas Sifert and two granddaughters, Charlotte Sifert and Carolyn Thomas, also one sister, Mrs. Ola Jordan of Richmond, Indiana, all of whom were present at the funeral.
Mr. Thomas passed away Tuesday morning, May 18, 1937, after an illness of several years duration.
