MRS. CARRIE STILES DIES OF HEART ATTACK

Patterson (Special) – Mrs. Carrie Stiles, postmistress at Patterson, died Friday morning, December 7, following a heart attack. Mrs. Stiles, who was born January 10, 1865 was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cleland. She was united in marriage to William Stiles and to this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Forest Frey, of Des Moines and Bernice (Mrs. Tom Russell) deceased.

Mrs. Stiles lived for the greater part of her life in Madison county except for a few years spent in Kansas City. Since the death of his mother, Robert Russell has made his home with his grandmother here in Patterson.

Funeral services were held in the church at Patterson Sunday afternoon. Interment was made at Blair Chapel.

Mrs. Stiles is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Forest Frey, three grandchildren, Kathryn and Mariam Frey and Robert Russell and one sister, Mrs. Minta Carter, of Kansas City, Kansas, and one brother, Charlie Cleland of Patterson. All were present at the funeral except Kathryn Frey, who is attending school in the east.

Others attending the funeral from a distance included Forest Frey, Mr. and Mrs. Cash Stiles, Ray Stiles, Mrs. Mabel Clapton and Kathryn Cleland all of Des Moines, Mrs. Grace Archer of near Martensdale, and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Stiles of Winterset.
