STROKE FATAL TO HUGH THOMSON

Earlham Man Never Regained Consciousness After Attack at B. F. Snow Farm Thursday Evening. Funeral Services Conducted Monday.

The community was shocked Thursday evening to learn of the serious illness of Hugh M. Thomson, one of its most highly respected citizens. He had suffered a stroke and passed away Saturday at his home here without regaining consciousness.

Mr. Thomson had been in failing health for some time, though friends did not suspect the seriousness of the malady from which he suffered. For the past several months he had been doing the chores at the B. F. Snow farm during the illness of Mr. Snow. Thursday evening Mrs. Snow noted that Mr. Thomson did not complete his work in the usual time and after a while became alarmed at not seeing him about the farm lot. She investigated and found Mr. Thomson lying where the attack had come upon him.

The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church at Earlham on Monday at 2:00 p.m. The service was in charge of the Reverend W. C. Porter, pastor in charge and the Reverend H. M. Jones pastor of the Friends Church, an esteemed friend of the family. A quartet consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Shifflett, Mrs. Lucile Schalkle and Mr. Mervyn McLennan sang.

The following obituary was read at the services. It is all too brief to reflect the innate goodness and friendliness of this man whom so many were glad to call neighbor.

He was faithful in the several offices he held in the church serving at different times as trustee, Superintendent of the Sunday School and in other services.

He will be sincerely missed by all his many friends who loved him devotedly. All join in commending the bereaved to the mercy and comfort of the God of all comfort.
