Obituary of J. H. Farris
He was born in Illinois Nov. 16, 1839 and died July 5, 1907 aged 67 years, 7 months and 19 days.
His early boyhood days were spent in Arkansas and Missouri from which state he moved with his parents to Iowa, where he resided until last November when he moved to Yates Center, Kansas.
On October 8, 1860 he was untied in marriage with Miss Dorindo Sturman, who had come when a child from Ohio to Iowa.
To their union were born five children of whom three still survive. Henderson Farris, who lives north of Yates Center; Mrs. Lillian Sorenson, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Whitmer, of Newton, Iowa. There are also a sister and brother of the deceased to mourn his loss, Johnson Farris, of Centropolis, Kansas and Mrs. Nancy Brown, of Helena, Mo.
