Thursday, August 20, 1936Mrs. Sid Hartman Dies
Mrs. Sid Hartman, young woman of this community and mother of three small children, died at the Winterset hospital, last Friday. She was 28 years of age.
Mrs. Hartman was the former Dicie Piatt, daughter of John and Elizabeth Piatt, and was born at Casey, on February 12, 1908. As an infant, she was taken by her parents to Oklahoma, where the family lived for two years. At the end of this period they returned to Madison county, which has since been her home. At the age of 15 she moved to Patterson where she attended the high school. She has lived in Winterset the last few years.
On September 12, 1935, she was married to Sid J. Hartman. They were the parents of three daughters. They are Mary Elizabeth, age 8, Verla Marie, 6, and Velma Louise, 2.
When 9 years old Mrs. Hartman had united with the Early Chapel Church of Christ. Upon moving to Patterson, she changed her membership to the Methodist church there.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her parents; a sister, Florence Piatt of Des Moines; and two brothers, Andrew and Jess Piatt of Winterset.
Funeral services were held on Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. Cook of the Early Chapel church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
