MRS. JAMES A. MILLS DIED HERE TUESDAY

Succumbs to Heart Attack After Illness of Single Day

Mrs. James A. Mills, well known Winterset woman, died here Tuesday of a heart attack. She had been ill one day.

Mrs. Mills was 68 years of age. She was born in Douglas township on Jan. 14, 1871, the daughter of Levi and Louisa Taylor. She was the former Laura J. Taylor. She was married to James A. Mills on Feb. 17, 1891.

With the exception of 12 years in South Dakota, and three years in Missouri, Mrs. Mills' life was spent in this county. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ, and was affiliated with the Women's Benefit association of Yankton, S. Dak.

She is survived by her husband; her aged mother, the present Mrs. Rufus Clark of Winterset; three children, V. L. Mills of Englewood, Cal., Mrs. Goldie Rabe of Belmond, and Cloyd Mills of Winterset; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Will Perry of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; and three brothers, M. O. Taylor and V. F. Taylor of Winterset and Clyde Taylor of Payette, Ida.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Winterset Church of Christ, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Tom Foglesong. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.

MORTUARY

Laura Jane Taylor, daughter of Levi and Louisa Taylor, was born on January 14, 1870 in Madison county, and departed this life March 7, 1939, at her home in Winterset at the age of 69 years, one month and twenty-one days. She was united in marriage to James A. Mills on Feb. 17th, 1891. To this union five children were born: LeRoy of Englewood, Cal., Cloyde of Winterset, Mrs. Goldie Rabe, of Belmond. Two children, Erise and Nada, died in infancy.

Mrs. Mill's girlhood days were spent around Winterset. In 1904 with her family she moved to South Dakota, living there until 1916, then moving to Missouri and a short time later returning to Winterset where she lived until her death. Mrs. Mills was a member of the Church of Christ, and the church occupied a supreme place in her life.

She is survived by her husband, two sons and daughter, and her aged mother, Mrs. Louisa Clark. Also seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also three brothers, Marley and Verne Taylor of Winterset, and Clyde Taylor of Payette, Idaho and one sister, Mrs. Will Perry of Mt. Vernon, Ill. She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers, John and Grant and one sister, Cora.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon, at the Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. Tom Foglesong, with interment in the Winterset cemetery. Pallbearers were W. C. Johnson, Chas. Beeler, John Townsend, Glen Walters, Ray Allen, and E. M. Easter. Flower attendants were Mrs. Ray Allen, Mrs. Claire Burd and Mrs. Tom Foglesong.
