George Gaylord, son of James W. and Isabel Gibbons, was born February first, 1871 near Barney, Madison County, Iowa and passed away at the Dr. Sells Hospital in Osceola, February 7th, 1934.

He received his education in the country schools of Madison county and attended Simpson college at Indianola, after which he was a successful teacher in the rural schools of Madison and Clarke counties, until the death of his father in 1898, after which he returned to the farm to help his sister, Harriet, make a pleasant and comfortable home for their invalid mother. After her passing in 1917, he and Miss Harriet bought the old home; therefore he spent his entire life of sixty-three years and seven days on the same farm.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Lorimor and was a regular attender of the Barney church and Sunday school.

He is survived by three brothers, Ira and John of Lorimor; Fred of Denver; the three sisters, Florence Austin of Lorimor; Harriet at home and Belle Rickets of Barney besides two nieces and five nephews and a host of friends.

Those preceding him in death are his parents, one sister, Ida and two brothers, William and Albert.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p. m. at the Barney church conducted by Rev. Edwin Sands, pastor of the Methodist church of Lorimor. Masonic services followed the regular church services at the church conducted by Bro. Thos. Beaumont of Creston with completion of the same at the Barney cemetery, where the deceased brother was interred.
