DEATH OF JOHN KELLEHER

Prominent Madison County Farmer Dies in Des Moines Hospital

John Kelleher of near Bevington, known as one of Madison county's outstanding farmers and livestock men, died at Mercy hospital in Des Moines Sunday after an extended period of ill health. He was 48 years of age.

Mr. Kelleher was the son of a former widely-known doctor in Des Moines and was a graduate of Iowa State college at Ames with the class of 1912. He started farming that same year. His livestock interest brought him prominently into the affairs of the Polled Hereford Breeders' association and he was active and prominent in the affairs of the Madison County Farm Bureau for many years.

About a year ago Mr. Kelleher was stricken with high blood pressure and his death came as the result of a stroke.

He is survived by his widow, who was the former Miss Julia Kane; by his seven children; two sisters, Mrs. E. J. Donahoe of Des Moines and Mrs. Don Kiplinger of Omaha; and two brothers, Lewis J. Kelleher of Des Moines and Thomas Kelleher of Norwalk.

A requiem high mass was said for Mr. Kelleher in services held at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset, Wednesday in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William Hahessy. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
