Death of Edward Allgeyer

Edward Allgeyer, veteran farmer whose home was in Douglas township for 60 years, died suddenly Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at his home here in Winterset. Mr. Allgeyer, known familiarly as "Bob" enjoyed a wide circle of acquaintances throughout Madison county. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Allgeyer had been in good health and his death came unexpectedly.

He was a native of Illinois coming to Madison county and settling on the farm in Douglas township 69 years ago. That farm was his home until 9 years ago when he moved to Winterset. He never married.

He is survived by a sister, Nora Allgeyer and a brother, J. S. Allgeyer, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Funeral rites were held Tuesday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. Father William Hahessy, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Music at the funeral was furnished by Mrs. J. C. Johnston at the piano, with Ed Hartley and Francis Bass as soloists. Mrs. Robert O.Laughlin was in charge.

HEART ATTACK FATAL TO ROBERT ALLGEYER

Services for Robert Allgeyer who died Saturday evening at his home on north First avenue, were held Tuesday morning at the Ramsey – Richards funeral home conducted by the Rev. William Hahessy, burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. Allgeyer who was 74, had been in usual health and had been down town until late Saturday afternoon. He became ill shortly after six and died about 6:30. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

He was the son of Charles Allgeyer, Sr., and was born in Viola, Illinois, April 15, 1861. He was six years old when the family came to Madison county and had spent 60 years on the farm west of Winterset, moving to Winterset nine years ago. There’s only close relatives are his sister, Miss Nora Allgeyer with whom he made his home, and a brother, Jack Allgeyer.
