MRS. FRANCES JEFFS OF BARNEY IS DEAD

Funeral Rites Held Sunday From Christian Church in Barney

Mrs. Frances Ellen Jeffs, well-known woman of the Barney neighborhood, died at the hospital in Winterset last Thursday. She was 66 years of age.

Mrs. Jeffs was the daughter of Thomas and Amanda Cook and was born in Marion county on September 11, 1871. She came to Madison county with her parents in 1875. Here she was reared and spent most of her life.

In 1882 she was united in marriage to Edward Jeffs. They were the parents of 11 children, three of whom preceded her in death. The husband died in 1910.

Mrs. Jeffs was known for her active work in the community in which she lived. She was one of the most active members of the Christian church.

She is survived by the following children; Mrs. James Jeffs of Barney, Mrs. Lloyd Wallace of Winterset, Everett Jeffs of Truro, Mrs. Orville Wallace of Rockwell City, Mrs. Emory Ackelson of Peru, Charley Jeffs of Peru, Ernest Jeffs of Peru, and Mrs. Harold Ackelson of Peru. She also leaves 25 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Christian church in Barney.
