Mrs. Ellis Bertholf, a resident of Madison county, passed away Friday, March 26, 1937, at the age of 47 years, following a brief illness of less than a week.

Mrs. Bertholf was the former Edith Ford, daughter of Richard and Mary J. Ford. She was born in Lincoln township and her entire life has been lived here. She was married to Ellis Bertholf January 29, 1913 and they have resided on the Bertholf farm in the Ord community ever since.

She loved her home, her garden and her flowers, and was interested in everything which made for better farm homes and for a better community.

In girlhood, Edith joined the Church of Christ of Winterset, later changing her membership to the New Hope church. Always a quiet, unassuming Christian in the true sense of honest, clean, right living. She was ever active in the interest of her church, a loyal friend and a kind and thoughtful neighbor. And she was a charter member of the Clover club.

Mrs. Bertholf is survived by her husband, E. E. Bertholf, one son, Halden and a grandson, Halden Claire Bertholf; her mother, Mrs. Mary J. Ford; and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Silliman of Towner, Colorado; three brothers, Roy, Fred and Guy of Winterset; one sister, Cecil and two brothers, Claire who died in Des Moines in 1934 and Gene who died in France during the World War preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Ord church in charge of Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset. Burial was made in the Clark cemetery.
