MRS. EVA MACUMBER,

Mrs. Eva Macumber Receives Fatal Injuries in Ozark Mountains.

Mrs. Eva Macumber, Lorimor resident was killed and her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Peterson received serious injuries, Tuesday, May 23, 1933, when their car crashed over an embankment near Ozark, Missouri. The Lorimor Journal has the following to relate about the accident:

A car accident which occurred a little before noon on Tuesday, proved fatal to Mrs. Eva Macumber, and her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Peterson received considerable injury, when their car crashed over an embankment near Ozark, Missouri.

Mrs. Peterson was immediately taken to the hospital at Ozark, where an examination revealed that injuries sustained did not warrant her stay and she was removed to the home of her sister, Mrs. L. Shennant at Willow Springs.

The accident was caused, it is believed, by the blowing out of a tire which caused the car, which was a Model A Ford roadster, to swerve against the curb and rolled over the embankment, killing Mrs. Macumber instantly, as far as can be learned.

Mrs. Peterson, accompanied by her mother, left early on Monday morning enroute to Willow Springs, Missouri, and had evidently stayed at some place over night and were proceeding on their journey when the accident occurred. Mrs. Peterson was making the trip to attend the graduation exercises of her nephew, a son of Mrs. Shennant, who was to receive his diploma Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Macumber may be considered a pioneer resident of the Barney and Lorimor vicinty and moved to Lorimor about ten years ago. Mrs. Peterson has been chief operator at the Lorimor Telephone exchange for a number of years and is well known throughout this vicinity.

The body of Mrs. Macumber will be returned tonight (Thursday) on C.G.W.R.R. train No. 2 accompanied by Mrs. Peterson and her sister Mrs. L. Shennant. The funeral will be held Saturday, though the time and place of services and place of burial, has not been made known.

Mrs. Macumber leaves to mourn her death, one sister in St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter and two sons in Nebraska; one daughter in Willow Springs, Missouri; and her daughter Myrtle of Lorimor, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
