MRS. D. V. CRAWFORD OF EARLHAM DIES

Pneumonia Proves Fatal to Well-Known Madison County Woman

Pneumonia claimed the life last Friday of Mrs. D. V. Crawford, well-known farm woman living near Earlham, after a week's illness at the Winterset hospital.

Among the near surviving relatives are her husband; her four children, J. L. Crawford and Mrs. Harry Chestnutwood of DeSoto, Ross Crawford of Earlham, and Harold Crawford of Pitzer; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Stacey Jordan of Grinnell, Grover Jordan of Des Moines and Dr. Frances Jordan of Adel and two sisters, Velma and Grace.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church in Earlham Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with burial in the Earlham cemetery.

Mrs. D. V. CRAWFORD DIED THURSDAY

Friends of Mrs. D. V. Crawford who was taken to the Winterset hospital last Saturday for treatment for pneumonia, will be saddened to learn that she suddenly became worse and died Thursday afternoon.

Lillie D. Jordan, daughter of F. M. and Mary J. Jordan was born in Champagne county, Illinois, on April 28th, 1877, and passed away at the Winterset hospital on November 18th, 1937, at the age of sixty years, six months, and twenty days.

She spent her early childhood near her birthplace, and moved with her parents and brothers and sisters, to Madison county at the age of sixteen. After her grammar school training she attended Highland Park School of Music.

On February 5th, 1896, she was united in marriage to D. V. Crawford. To this union were born one daughter, Ruth, and three sons, Jacob, Ross, and Harold. Her entire married life was spent on the old Crawford homestead, near Earlham.

During her middle life she united with the Early Chapel Christian Church, and remained a faithful member unto her death.

Those who grieve her parting are: her husband, D. V. Crawford, her daughter, Mrs. H. L. Chestnutwood, her three sons, J. I. Crawford of Arthur; R. A. Crawford of Earlham; and D. H. Crawford of Dexter; and five grandchildren, her three brothers, S. D. Jordan of Grinnell; G. I. Jordan of Des Moines; Dr. F. B. Jordan of Adel; and her two sisters, Mrs. Grace Jones of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. J. W. French of Palestine, Texas. Besides these are many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Earlham Christian Church. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.

Services were in charge of Rev. E. C. Cook, pastor of Early Chapel Christian Church.
